This inaugural conference has been initiated by the Nuclear Institute, upon recognition that of one of the primary issues facing the Industry today is the subject of Low Level Waste. This waste, and the challenges faced by owners, operators and regulators in its generation, minimisation, segregation, transport, treatment, storage and disposal is common to both well established nuclear facilities, and those planned in the near future.
| | The management of Low Level Waste is undergoing major changes to ensure that quantities are minimised, but well characterised, in order to provide better assurance to the public and regulators that safety is maintained. Efficient use of disposal facilities are commensurate with ensuring an acceptably low environmental impact both today and in the generations to come.
The conference brings together professionals in the Low Level Waste field, ranging from expert practitioners to new trainees; working in operations and supply chain, regulation, and ownership, from both national and international perspectives. The aim is to aid understanding of the current and future challenges, in an integrating and enjoyable forum, for the benefit of the Industry and mankind.
